He is the recipient of a Lannan Fellowship and a Whiting Writer’s Award, among many other honors for his work. His novella Train Dream was a New York Times Notable Book for 2011, one of The Economist’s 2011 Books of the Year, and one of NPR’s 10 Best Novels of 2011. He lives in Northern Idaho.
